DVH Vintage Royal Copenhagen Matte Triangle Cabochon 22x20x4 (8141) - DVHdesigns

DVH Vintage Royal Copenhagen Matte Triangle Cabochon 22x20x4 (8141)

$ 6.88

This triangle shaped cabochon is a one-of-a-kind, handmade Sea Glass bead that I made out of a broken, vintage, Royal Copenhagen decorative Christmas Plate from 1974! Measures 22x20mm and is 4mm thick. This plate depicts an owl sitting on a branch under a full moon in a snowy winter landscape at twilight. Additional wonderful patterns of pine cones, bare branches and others in that classic Royal Copenhagen Blue! My late Nana bought each of my brothers and me one of these plates each Christmas from the late 60's through the early 70's. Some of them have broken and I've recycled and repurposed them into pendant-bead-ornaments!

PERFECT for creative beading or to make a HOLIDAY ORNAMENT or necklace for a Royal Copenhagen collector (Valentines, Christmas)! I cut, sanded, drilled and THEN tumbled it to make it look like a piece of beach glass or beach worn pottery so it has a consistent satiny matte finish, and the edges rounded. It's like Custom made "Sea Glass Royal Copenhagen Christmas"!

CHAIN NOT INCLUDED. If you want to see ALL of my inventory of custom cut focal beads, cabochons, chains, and jewelry you will find all of it on my website. I have bargain auctions in my eBay store at least once a month. I have an Etsy store as well as the website, but Etsy will only showcase the most recent 4 months work, while the entire stock will always be on the website. Here's the story of how I got into making handcrafted beach glass beads.......

About 20 years ago I noticed some local art jewelers who were using beach glass in their work. I asked one gallery owner in Seattle how a certain jeweler got so much uniform beach glass for her production work. She let me in on the secret that this jeweler made her own beach glass. A light went on in my head! I could easily make my own beach glass!

Since then I’ve collected all kinds of patterned glass from Value Village, Goodwill, garage sales, and even my Grandma’s estate. Most all the pieces are chipped or badly worn so they don't have much value as "collectible". I’ve been making all sorts of unusual pieces from this. No two are ever exactly alike. I cut up the glass on my diamond saw, shape it, sand it, drill it if it’s going to be a bead, and then tumble it to create a matte finish. I haven't done too much of this series of "Custom Sea Glass" or "handcrafted beach glass" during the past 5 years and it feels fun to be doing lapidary work with glass, china, & pottery again! I love the sense of having an entirely different "Palette of color, pattern, and material" to work with.
