I hand cut this bead pendant out of genuine Corvete Fordite that came from the factory in Bowling Green, KY.  Measurements in the title.  Sterling silver bail with 5mm ID hole that will fit most chains, CHAIN NOT INCLUDED. 

Fordite is the accumulated overspray from auto factory paint booths, carefully cut and polished using traditional lapidary techniques. Each piece is shipped in a gift box with a Certificate of Authenticity. I also offer other Fordite varieties, including material from Corvette, Kenworth, F150, Jeep Wrangler, Freightliner, and more!

With over four decades of experience crafting unique Fordite pieces, I source my rough from a select few reputable dealers who ensure its authenticity and provenance. While many still believe new Fordite rough is scarce due to manufacturing shifts, contemporary rough is available to passionate lapidary artists like myself. Be cautious of imitations that claim to be Fordite but are often just blended paints or resin beads with no true automotive history. I stand behind the authenticity of my work.

My connection to Fordite dates back to the 1970s, when I was deeply involved with my local rock club in Jackson, Michigan. Back then, rockhounds working in the auto industry salvaged dried layers of car paint from factory paint booths—a practice that began in the late 1960s. The paint, repeatedly baked in curing ovens, hardened into a solid and remarkable material. Known as "Fordite, Chryslerite, Buickite, and Detroit Agate" in those days, Fordite has since become the most cherished and recognized term.
