I hand cut this lovely focal bead out of natural moonstone from Madagascar. 2mm drill hole, dimensions and weight in title. CHAIN NOT INCLUDED. Moonstone is a variety of feldspar that has an optical phenomena of adulaurescence, similar to labradorescence. Madagascar black moonstones are a relatively new find and they are bigger and flashier than the traditional moonstones from India. Although the rough I worked this from was sold to me as "black moonstone" the color is mostly grey to silver, with lots of really cool inclusions and patternings that one doesn't see in traditional moonstone. To me many of the patterns look like lightning so I call it "Black Lightning Moonstone." Pictures don't do these beauties justice.
"Mystic Lore: Intuitive sources say that Moonstone is a stone of emotional harmony and wellbeing. It has been revered for centuries in India as a stone which can bring harmony and good fortune to marriages and love relationships. Moonstone is said to help one relax and enjoy life, and to help one fully love & appreciate others."
The items labeled DVH/PC are pieces from my PRIVATE COLLECTION that I’ve made and chosen to keep for myself over the years. They are stored at my home, cherished, and worn semi-regularly. These pieces represent a deeper connection for me, and though they’re not readily available for sale, I wanted to share them with a wider audience who might appreciate their beauty as much as I do. I know that, in time, I’ll let them go—because, as with everything, we must eventually release our attachments.
The prices you see reflect how much I value these creations. I kept these pieces because there was something special and different about them from all the other pieces I cut. While they are priced higher than my usual retail pieces, that’s simply a reflection of the energy and affection I’ve poured into them. Some may be priced "not to sell," but eventually, I will lower the price, as all things have their season. Just like the timeless wisdom of Ecclesiastes, “A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace
, and a time to refrain from embracing.” When the time is right, they’ll find their way to new homes, where they’ll be cherished once more. I'm learning new ways to embrace the journey of letting go.
So, if this piece calls to you and the price aligns with your ability to pay, I will happily make this energetic exchange with you. These items are now a part of my regular inventory, so when I hold occasional sales, they will be marked down at the same percentage as the rest of my collection. After all, most everything has a price in a capitalist culture, but the energy we exchange is priceless. Thank you for being a part of this journey.
