DVH Cobalto Calcite Freeform Bead Pendant Pink Druzy Congo 38x21x13mm (6327)
I hand-cut this freeform focal bead from natural pink drusy Cobalto Calcite from the Democratic Republic of Congo. Measurements are shown in the listing title in millimeters. It features a 2.5mm drill hole. CHAIN NOT INCLUDED.
The front of the bead retains its natural sparkling druzy crystal surface, while the sides and back are carefully buff-polished for comfortable wear. The crystals are intact, lively, and beautifully reflective, with minimal bruising. Natural inclusions of associated minerals may be present—part of the authenticity of this remarkable material.
Cobalto Calcite (also known as Cobaltian Calcite, Sphaerocobaltite, or Cobalticalcite) is the famous vivid pink mineral often found alongside malachite in the copper-cobalt mining districts of the Congo, particularly the Kakanda Mine in the former Shaba Province. High-quality material suitable for cutting into wearable art is uncommon. I look for select pieces when attending the Tucson gem shows each year, and it is increasingly difficult to find good rough with strong color and clean crystal surfaces.
The color ranges from soft rose to intense magenta, depending on cobalt content. The druzy crystals are delicate and softer than quartz, so this piece should be treated with care and not subjected to impact or abrasion.
Metaphysically, Cobalto Calcite is often associated with the heart—encouraging compassion, emotional healing, and the gentle release of stored grief or fear. Many believe its vibrant pink energy supports self-acceptance, love, and the softening of inner resistance. Whether you resonate with those ideas or simply appreciate its extraordinary color and sparkle, there is no denying the presence this stone carries.
This is a rare and striking example of genuine pink drusy Cobalto Calcite, hand-finished in my Portland studio. Compare with other pieces online—you won’t often find bead pendants that preserve so much natural sparkle while still being wearable.
