DVH Ford F150 Fordite Keychain KC Assembly 33mm Rd Silver (6145)
This is a keychain I hand made in my studio in Portland, Oregon out of genuine Fordite. I used material from the Ford Kansas City Assembly Plant in Claycomo, Missouri, where the F-150 is manufactured. Dimensions are listed in millimeters in the title. Shipped in a gift box with a Certificate of Authenticity. Fordite is a collectible material—solidified layers of automotive paint—so a bit of gentle use and care will help preserve its polish over time.
Fordite is accumulated overspray from the paint booths of auto factories, which I cut and polish using traditional lapidary techniques. Contrary to the long-held belief that new Fordite rough is nearly impossible to find due to modern manufacturing changes, there is still some contemporary material available to lapidary artists like myself. My collection comes from a very small number of trusted, reputable dealers whose material I have known for years, ensuring authenticity and proper provenance. It was affectionately known by many names—Fordite, Chryslerite, Buickite, Detroit Agate—but over time “Fordite” has become the most recognized and beloved term.
