Touchstones: Myth, Magic, and Meaning from the Stone Age to the New Age
Synopsis: In this presentation David will take us on a tour through history, examining the earliest manifestations of beads and jewelry from 40,000 years ago and what they tell archeologists about early human civilization. From that early start we will journey through millennia and across continents looking at how different people and cultures have made and used beads and ornaments throughout time. The various myths, meanings, and magic associated with form, material, and presentation will be shown through images and storytelling. This talk is not meant to be an academic treatise but rather an overview of looking back through history so that one may better understand ways we make and understand jewelry today. It is a journey in archetypal inspiration!
