DVH Purpurite Matched Pair Teardrop Natural Face Cabochons Namibia 28x16x4mm (9767)
I hand cut this matched pair of cabochons, measurements are in the listing title. A freeform teardrop shape with natural faces and matte finish sides and backs. I made it from a small cache of genuine purpurite from Nambia that I was able to get my hands on at Tucson trade shows in February 2016! I sorted through several flats and picked out all the "gem" quality specimens. I only saw the one dealer with this material and I'm glad I got some! This pieces features a natural iridescent purple face covered with the magical purpurpite. I rounded and sanded the edges for a lovely matte finish. When I run out of this material, there will probably be no more until next year, and that's never for sure!

Here's what wikipedia says about purpurite, '
"Purpurite is a mineral, basically manganese phosphate, MnPO4 although with varying amounts of iron depending upon the source of the mineral. It is a striking pink purple color as might be expected of a manganese-containing mineral. Purpurite forms a series with the iron bearing endmember heterosite, FePO4."
Here's some metaphysical information I found online,
"Purpurite is a purple stone that encourages you to feel free to speak out... and to have confidence in your abilities to verbalize your thoughts clearly... and with total lack of obstruction. If you have been aware of any self-destructive situations, that may be limiting your personal growth, this stone helps to clear these problems. This stone has strong metaphysical properties, and is an excellent stone to help with stress. It embodies within it the violet flame energy, which is highly spiritual in nature. This energy also has powerful healing abilities, and offers strong psychic protection."
