DVH California Fossil Turritella Snail Shell Matte Teardrop Bead 48x20x9 (7509)

DVH California Fossil Turritella Snail Shell Matte Teardrop Bead 48x20x9 (7509)

$ 32.88

Another one-of-a-kind from DVH Designs!!! This is made from turritella, actual fossilized snails from Baja, California. Unlike the turritella from Wyoming, this material is NOT agatized, so it is a bit softer. Measures 48x20mm and 9mm thick with a 2.5mm side drill hole. This teardrop shape bead features an interesting "orb" pattern.

Chain not included. See the rest of my listings in my DVHdesigns Etsy shop AND my eBay store for more focal beads, custom cut cabochons, cold worked glass, genuine jet mourning beads, sterling chains just for beads, and more! Here is some information from Wikipedia about turritella agate, which actually is NOT Turritella shells!

"Turritella agate": The fossils are hosted in chalcedony rich sedimentary rock. This rock was originally incorrectly called Turritella agate.It was named after the sea snail genus Turritella because of the resemblance of the freshwater snail shells to the Turritella fossils that are found in agate in Texas and California. The Wyoming fossil shells, however, are in a freshwater sedimentary deposit and identifiable as the genus Elimia, and are less-silicified than those in Texas and California.

Paleoecology and paleogeology: The fossil beds are approximately 46 to 51 million years old and occur in the Laney Member of the Green River Formation.[5] Evidence suggests that the Elimia tenera were deposited nearshore in a series of shallow lakes, which geologists have named the Fossil, Uinta and Gosiute Lakes.[6] The climate was subtropical and there were intermittent volcanic eruptions

Here are some metaphysical properties of turritella I found on the internet: "Turritella Agate healing crystal overcomes negativity and bitterness of the heart, healing anger and fostering love and the courage to start again, making it useful for any kind of emotional trauma. It creates a sense of safety and security by dissolving internal tension, and allows one to open to accept love."

"Turritella Agate tumbled stone is beneficial for emotional trauma, self-confidence, concentration, perception, analytical abilities, stabilizing the aura, negative energy transformation and emotional disease. The Turritella Agate polished stone can be used to help subdue a persons superiority complex. It helps to bring them back to earth. It is a stone many use for healing Mother Earth, as it opens the channels between the plant world and the mineral world. It can be used to hlep one through transitions and helps to rid one of unpleasant thoughts during these transitions. It also helps with calming and helps to reduce fatigue.This stone has to do with combining the old with the new. It helps you to adjust to changes in life that has to do with combining the old aspects of life with the new ones. Like families that have step children or step parents in them, helps them run more smoothly. It can also help to neutralize survival base fears and allow you to know what is at the root of them."
